Located at Romollas Building at the junction of Magongo Road and Airport Road in Changamwe, the new facility will offer residents access to quality and affordable healthcare services, complementing existing services from government and other private institutions.

Commenting on the commissioning of the new medical facility, Equity Group Foundation Executive Director, Reuben Mbindu noted that the Foundation targets to set up medical facilities throughout the country to increase access to quality healthcare. Through EGF’s franchise model, Equity Afia healthcare entrepreneurs are trained and equipped with the necessary skills to manage the facilities.

“The move to open a facility in Mombasa has been motivated by our strategic mission of providing access to inclusive, quality healthcare to enable our people lead productive lives. We hope that our affordable model and quality services will increase access to quality care and health literacy for the people of Mombasa ,” said Mbindu.

Equity Afia’s medical model has adopted a combined, inclusive approach with strategic partners such as the Government, NHIF, private insurance schemes, micro-medical insurance and informal health funds, thus encouraging the uptake of comprehensive and affordable private health insurance by Kenyans.

The newly opened Equity Afia Changamwe will offer comprehensive outpatient care in general consultation, specialized clinics like obstetrics and gynaecology, well-baby clinics, dental services, optical services, dermatological services, paediatric services and nutrition services among others; supported by well-equipped laboratories and stocked pharmacies.

“We believe that good health is a building block for wealth creation and that we can stimulate social progress through our endeavour to understand disease patterns in the regions where we work. Through such a proactive approach, a healthy community can play a central role in addressing poverty and disease,” added Mbindu.

Equity Afia is an initiative under the Equity Group Foundation that is using franchising principles to train and monitor a network of medical entrepreneurs, who are qualified alumni of the Equity Leaders Program (ELP).
